| Beautifully situated at the east
end of the historic village of Aldie, Virginia, the Church of Our Redeemer was built in
1890 by parishioner Henry Fairfax on land he deeded from Oak Hill, an estate once owned by
President James Monroe. The above picture was taken in 1900 and comes from a
postcard published by the Aldie Drugstore. From 1853
until 1995, Our Redeemer was joined with Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Middleburg as John's
Parish. The churches shared a priest who preached to both congregations every
Sunday. In 1995, the two churches "unyoked" with a vision of growth and service.
In 1998, Our Redeemer took the first step of faith in the
realization of this vision by breaking ground on a new parish hall. The project was
completed in 1999, a sign of our commitment to make Christ's love manifest in the
community. |
